30 Apr AMERICAN HUMANE SPONSORS SPEAKER FOR NSDAR FUNDRAISER
The Henry Morrison Flagler Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) hosted its annual fundraiser on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach.
The event aimed to raise funds for Operation 300 Gold Star Children’s Camp and featured Montel Williams, veteran and media personality, as the keynote speaker, sponsored by American Humane. The fundraising luncheon was attended by 125 people in support of veterans and their families.
Williams discussed post-traumatic stress (PTS) and how it affects veterans and their families. He spoke to:
His military background and experiences while in the military
Suicide in veterans and the disparity in the numbers reported
Ways to treat PTS in veterans, such as better resources available
The emphasis on doing more to support our veterans and their families, including American Humane’s Pups4Patriots™ program
The heart of Operation 300 is to take care of Gold Star Families and honor the sacrifice that has been made by their family members in service. The founding program, Gold Star Kids Camps, provides an opportunity for kids to participate in activities that characterize the lives of their parents in service while fostering a culture of courage, strength, and freedom.
