18 Jan Piper’s Angels Foundation Unveils Documentary Film “Double Or Nothing”
January, 18th 2024 — Piper’s Angels Foundation is proud to announce the premiere of its groundbreaking short film documentary, “Double Or Nothing,” at Cinepolis in Jupiter, Florida on Thursday, February 1st. The film captures the extraordinary journey of Scott Johnson, a resilient double lung transplant recipient born with cystic fibrosis, who defied the odds to achieve remarkable feats in the face of adversity.
“Double Or Nothing” chronicles Scott Johnson’s awe-inspiring story of determination, courage, and triumph over the challenges posed by cystic fibrosis. After undergoing a double lung transplant, Scott became the first person in history with such a transplant to conquer a full Ironman event after multiple attempts. This unprecedented achievement showcased Scott’s indomitable spirit and resilience, inspiring many in the cystic fibrosis community and beyond.
Not content with this incredible milestone, Scott embarked on an even more ambitious endeavor – attempting to paddle 80 miles across the Gulf Stream in the Crossing For Cystic Fibrosis event. This annual event not only tests the physical and mental limits of participants but also serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness and funds for the cystic fibrosis community.
The premiere of “Double Or Nothing” is a testament to the power of the human spirit and the indescribable strength that individuals like Scott possess. Piper’s Angels Foundation is honored to share this inspiring story with the world and hopes that it will serve as a beacon of hope for those facing similar challenges.
“We believe in the transformative power of storytelling, and ‘Double Or Nothing’ is a testament to the strength of the human spirit,” said Travis Suit, Producer of Double or Nothing/Executive Director at Piper’s Angels Foundation. “Scott’s journey is not just a story of personal triumph; it’s a rallying cry for everyone facing adversity. We are excited to bring this powerful narrative to the big screen and share it with our community.”
Piper’s Angels Foundation is thrilled to collaborate with the exceptionally talented film director, Makayla Wheeler, from MGW Productions, who hails from Melbourne, Florida. Makayla’s passion for storytelling and her keen directorial skills bring an added layer of depth and emotion to “Double Or Nothing. Carefully weaving cinematic visuals with powerful soundtracks to tell stories, she finds her passion where adventure meets inspiration and impact. “When Travis Suit (Producer) and the Piper’s Angels Foundation came to me with the concept, one of the things I felt strongly about in the making of Double or Nothing was that I wanted this film to inspire hope and give a clear riveting picture of what it looks like to give life your all.” says Makayla. “I choose to take Scott’s journey with the Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis and use it as the framework both visually and symbolically to tell Scott’s larger life story and journey.”
The premiere event will take place at Cinepolis in Jupiter, Florida, on Thursday, February 1st. The red carpet event promises to be a night of inspiration, celebration, and unity as supporters, community leaders, and individuals passionate about the cystic fibrosis cause come together.
