05 Dec American Humane Presents A Humane Salon Dinner: Once Our Lives
Exploring a more humane world was the topic of a salon dinner hosted at the home of American Humane’s Dr. Robin Ganzert featuring Qin Sun Stubis, writer, newspaper columnist, and the author of the award-winning new book, “Once Our Lives.”
Guests joining the salon dinner and book discussion included Sharon Jablin, Marilyn Pelstring, Herb Krauss, Paul and Irina de Quenoy, Florence Seiler and Bill McBride, Michele Assalty, Catherine Hart, Brian O’Connor, and other supporters of American Humane. Fox & Fig Catering’s Chef Chris Snyder delighted guests with a sumptuous meal followed by a lively discussion on humane values from China to America.
Taking the author 20 years to complete, “Once Our Lives” is an epic, true story following the stories of four generations of the author’s family as they struggle to survive some of the greatest historical events of the 20th Century. The book was named the Gold Winner in the international Nonfiction Book Awards, winner of the Pencraft Awards and Best Book Awards, and winner of the popular Readers’ Favorite Book Awards. Ms. Magazine andGlamour Magazine both chose it as one of the Top Reads for 2023.
Conversations revolved around the author’s journey, and love of animals and nature as a theme for survival through challenging times. Proceeds from the sales of Qin’s book that evening benefitted American Humane. The guests departed with gifts of this year’s iconic Pet Society featuring American Humane’s hero dogs and stories of compassion, kindness, and love.
