Music lovers gathered at Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club for an evening of eclectic brass at the Vero Friends of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra’s annual benefit concert on December 3. The program, entitled “Classy Brass,” spotlighted the orchestra’s acclaimed Brass Quintet.

Guests were captivated by the exquisite sounds of the fivesome, which included trumpeters Jesse Cook and Benedetto Salvia, hornist Stan Spinola, trombonist Timothy Conner, and tubist Jay Bertolet. The evening’s program featured acclaimed works by world-famous American and European composers, including Roger Reynolds, Leonard Bernstein, John Cheetham, Victor Ewald, and other musical luminaries.

Following the show, attendees mingled with quintet members and Atlantic Classical Orchestra’s musical director, David Amado, while enjoying cocktails and culinary masterpieces by Orchid Island’s executive chef Chris Sozio and his talented culinary team.

Josie’s Ristorante, the family-owned Italian favorite located in East Boynton Beach, will offer an elaborate Christmas Eve special, a holiday gift card promotion, and more this December.

This Christmas Eve, Josie’s will offer the Seven Fishes Feast ($80). The special, which serves two, will be available during dinner hours, from 4 to 10 p.m. The Seven Fishes Feast features clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp, octopus, scallops, and king crab in a Calabrian chili marinara sauce, served over a bed of house made linguini. Josie’s Ristorante will be closed on Christmas Day.

Additionally, from now through December 31, Josie’s will run a holiday gift card promotion, in which guests will get a $10 bonus on each gift card purchase over $50.

Lefkes Estiatorio, the modern Mediterranean hot spot located in downtown Delray Beach, has introduced three new offerings: Bottomless Brunch, Late Night Happy Hour, and Weekday Lunch.

On Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 to 4:00 p.m., Lefkes will offer Bottomless Brunch, during which customers can indulge in bottomless Bellinis, Mimosas, or Bloody Mary’s ($28). Bottomless beverage options can be enjoyed alongside signature brunch dishes, like the Lobster Roll ($26), the Braised Lamb Benedict ($22), and Chicken Souvlaki ($22).

Lefkes will also offer Late Night Happy Hour after 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays and after 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The Florida Association of Museums (FAM) has announced that the recipient of its 2024 Outstanding Trustee Award is Randal Baker, Board Chairman of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach. The Annual Museum Service Awards honor individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional leadership, dedication, and service to Florida’s museums and cultural institutions.

The Outstanding Trustee Award recognizes Mr. Baker’s invaluable contributions to the Morikami’s continued success, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to advancing the mission of preserving and sharing Japanese culture in Florida.

“Randal Baker’s passion and strategic leadership have been instrumental in the Morikami Museum’s growth and influence within our community and beyond,” says Malinda Horton, Executive Director of the Florida Association of Museums. “His dedication exemplifies the very best of museum stewardship and serves as an inspiration to fellow trustees and cultural leaders.”

As a trustee, Mr. Baker has played a pivotal role in shaping the Morikami Museum’s vision, fostering educational programs, and ensuring financial stability.
