An Atlanta native and graduate of Emory University, Debbie has made South Florida her home for the past 30+ years. She has served as Press Secretary for former Congressman Newt Gingrich; National Director of Media Relations for the Reagan-Bush ’84 re-election campaign; Acting Deputy Director of Communications for Bob Dole for President; and national television liaison for George H.W. Bush’s presidential convention. She also served as VP for Public Relations and Public Affairs for BioONE—the firm that decontaminated National Enquirer’s headquarters after the 2001 anthrax attacks. Debbie has also served as Senior Account Executive for The Ehlers Group, and was VP of Rubin Wealth Advisors in Boca Raton.
Debbie is a past President of the Boca Raton Historical Society, a past President of the Junior League of Boca Raton, and a former member of the US Holocaust Museum Council, which was by Presidential Appointment. In recognition of her work in the community, she received the prestigious Junior League Woman Volunteer of the Year Award and was honored by the American Jewish Committee for her work in the community. Currently, she is co-chair of the Junior League’s sustainers.
Debbie and her husband Steven L. Abrams, former Palm Beach County Commissioner and Mayor of Boca Raton, have two children, Margaret and Arthur, and a variety of neighborhood rabbits that Debbie tends to frequently feed.
